Willie Hildebrand

Dr. Hildebrand is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in the School of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Director of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center High-Resolution HLA Typing Laboratory. He is a George Lynn Cross Research Professor, a Presbyterian Health Foundation Endowed Professor, and a Robert Glenn Rapp Foundation Presidential Professor. He is the scientific founder and Chief Scientist at the Pure MHC and Pure Protein biotech companies. Dr. Hildebrand received his MS and PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Southern Illinois and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in HLA Immunogenetics at Stanford University. Dr. Hildebrand completed his training in Clinical Histocompatibility Testing in Oklahoma and he maintains board certification with American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.
Dr. Hildebrand participates in teaching Medical Students and Graduate Students at OUHSC. He co-founded and directs the graduate course Immuno-Oncology. Dr. Hildebrand’s academic laboratory has received considerable funding to characterize how HLA molecules distinguish cancerous cells to facilitate the immune recognition of tumors, the role of HLA molecules in infectious disease, and the role of HLA molecules in autoimmune responses. As a volunteer Dr. Hildebrand now serves as the President of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), on the Board of Directors of UNOS, and on the Board of Directors of the OPTN.
