Dr. Sebastiaan Heidt received his PhD degree in 2010 in the laboratory of Prof. Frans Claas on the characterization of B cells in relation to organ transplantation. Hereafter, he worked as a postdoctoral scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Kathryn Wood in Oxford for 2 years, mainly focusing on immune monitoring in kidney transplant recipients. Currently he is working as an Associate Professor in the laboratory of Transplantation Immunology of the Leiden University Medical Center, the Netherlands. His main research interests are differential immunogenicity of HLA, the various roles of B cells in organ transplantation, the formation and detection of HLA-specific memory B cells and immune monitoring of transplant recipients. Furthermore, he is the Director of the Eurotransplant Reference Laboratory, which is also situated in Leiden.
